Grateful Gatherings…Thanksgiving
November is the month to give thanks for so many things: a family’s love, nature’s abundance and the joyous offerings of generous friends… I’m so delighted to join in with an amazing group of Bloggers brought together by Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home as we share our homes and decor prepared for our own grateful gatherings for Thanksgiving.
“Tis sweet to know there is an eye will mark/our coming, and look brighter when we come” Lord Byron
We are Grateful
We are grateful for the joy of being able to celebrate with family and friends. Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to reflect on the blessings of the year. This is a time to demonstrate our gratefulness for the simple blessings, for the gift of fellowship and for the joy of being with our loved ones.
“…I have seen many beautiful houses during my travels, but there is nothing that compares to one lavished with generations of love…” from a letter to Miss Mamie Thompson
Come Home the blessings of family joy
No day of the year calls us home more than Thanksgiving does. The holiday feast is a celebration of intangible gifts, of kindness, of generosity of spirit. It is a cuisine de tendress,e as french say a fine meal carefully prepared and shared with those we love.
Wishes of warm family reunions, and for quiet moments in these sometimes hectic days…
“Our homes are our castles where we can enjoy each other, be comfortable, be safe, be happy,” Bob Timberlake

The real abundance comes when we join hands in thanksgiving with the ones we love
“Hospitality consists of a little fire, a little food and an immense quiet” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Autumn’s gifts stir the senses – the sight of trees garbed in rich foliage, the calls of birds from harvest fields, the taste of …here in time for family homecomings images of the season.
“No stranger could ever mistake the thanksgiving dinner for any other…not with that array of vegetables, the heirloom china…the communing of past and present” Henry Beetle Hough
Thanksgiving is the time when we realize the true gifts in our lives are the family and friends who gather in our homes and share our abundance.
Come Ye Thankful People
Come, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of harvest home;
All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin;
God our Maker doth provide
For our wants to be supplied;
Come to God’s own temple, come,
Raise the song of harvest home.
All the world is God’s own field,
Fruit unto His praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown,
Unto joy or sorrow grown;
First the blade, and then the ear,
Then the full corn shall appear:
Lord of harvest, grant that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be.
For the Lord our God shall come,
And shall take His harvest home;
From His field shall in that day
All offenses purge away;
Give His angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast;
But the fruitful ears to store
In His garner evermore.
Even so, Lord, quickly come,
Bring Thy final harvest home;
Gather Thou Thy people in,
Free from sorrow, free from sin,
There, forever purified,
In Thy garner to abide;
Come, with all Thine angels come,
Raise the glorious harvest home.
