We have a wide variety of roses in our garden, antique, tea, Austens and Knockouts. I am quite pleased and fond of the Knockouts. They’re the congenial guest in the garden – sweetly behaved not requiring much attention, but always, always giving of themselves. If you need an easy rose to grow that does not require a lot of attention – give the Knockout roses a try. I have heard there’s a new variety I’d love to see and to try – the O-So-Easy rose – when I next go to the nursery, I’ll find one to try.

the red Knockouts are prolific and glow when I take pictures – I am hoping to get a better camera to better capture their beauty and for oh, so many other reasons
Pink Dawn is one of those roses that were here when we moved in. This rose was left to run wild in the garden like a precocious child. She has snagged me with her thorns numerous times.

I have two of these shrub roses flanking the arbor on the westside of the garden. Their heavy with thorns, but also with delightful blooms

This little rose bush has much potential in its gorgeous deep purpe multi-petaled blooms. This rose lives in the back porch garden

The La MarneThe La Marne is part of the reason I fell in love with our home. This rose bush is over six feet tall and sits on the westside of the front porch, it is the rose seen alongside our Adirondak chairs. I thought to name our home after this rose. The La Marne Cottage

The other roses – some old, some new, some borrowed (gifted)…

I believe this rose is called a ‘Fairy Rose’ it is small and sweet and lives in the brick garden this was a gifted rose

this is one of the newest roses to my garden. My neighbor is simplifying his garden and I am adopting several of his rose and plants
I am delighted you took the tour of the roses in my garden. I shared with you several in Becoming the House in the Roses part 1 here. I have a few more roses that have yet to bloom. I am so delighted and grateful for the privilege of my garden.
“What a lovely thing a rose is!… Our highest assurance of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers, our desires, our food are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.” Arthur Conan Doyle I am sharing this post with these Delightsome blog parties: Make It Pretty MondayThursday Favorite Things @ Katherine’s CornerHome Sweet Home @ The Charm of Home
