Do you ever start your week tired?

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-COME-AND-REST1 There are so many things that can weigh us down, make us weary. Schedules and activities, interruptions, deadlines, discord, disappointment. Sometimes we just feel tired from the dailies of life.

That’s where I am this morning

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST3 So, where do you turn when you’re tired and perhaps easily discouraged by all that might be before you? How are you sustained through your weariness?

I go to the LORD, I go to the Rock

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST4 Just think, our LORD never grows weary, He can impart his strength and peace toward you at any time.

Isaiah 40:28-31

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall:  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Encouraged – Encourage Others

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST7 Knowing that strength and peace are not something that Jesus imparts toward us, like medicine or caffeine to sustain our strength. He promised us Himself, which is sufficient; He is our peace.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Ephesians 2:14

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us”.

He is our Refuge

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST6 Weariness can come after great victories and positive times, we can be snapped back and drug down quickly without realizing what just happened. Remember Elijah? He had quite the victory then found himself running for his life, scared and exhausted. This seemed a contradiction in what he’d just experienced, but it did happen and can happen to us as well. Elijah was quite worn out – what did God do – reprimand him? No. He provided what Elijah needed- rest, food and comfort. On many occasions this happend to David too.

Psalm 31:1-2

“In the, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for a house of defense to save me.”

When you need shelter, when you need a friend

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST2 Go to the Rock.

Psalm 18:1-3

“I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised…”

When you’re tired

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE-REST8 Rest, it’s o.k. Make choices about what is important. Guard your heart and mind. I can be a very melancholy spirit, this I know of myself and can easily be discouraged. It can feel like a heavy weight bearing down, like being submerged and the weight of the water too thick to rise through. I’ve learned to recognize this in myself, to turn to that Rock. When I feel like I’m sinking and have taken my eyes off the LORD, I turn my attention back. I get quiet and wait. I recall all of God’s promises to myself and begin to release the weariness – place them where they can be managed.

Do you need Rest, Encouragement

A-DELIGHTSOME-LIFE5 Recognize in yourself when you do and take care of yourself – physically, mentally and spiritually. We all have those days – God knows and understand. When you are rested and restored pray that you can be a blessing to someone else – Encourage another.  I hope your week will be blessed and Delightsome – be encouraged and be an encourager!
