Debbie Doo is doing a special challenge this week in her Copy Cat Party. Recognizing that we are inspired by each other, she expanded the party to include inspirations we find from fellow bloggers or from Pinterest.

The first thing I did was to cut down to fit a wonderful frame I haved an old piece of plywood. I then applied three coats of chalkboard paint, seasoned the chalkboard and wrote an inspiring verse. I placed my new framed chalkboard over the desk and hung some of my ironstone platters over the chalkboard. Loving the look – my daughter complimented it and that made my day!
Do you know who inspired this look? Perhaps the addition of the roses may help – I was grocery shopping at Kroger and they had them on sale – things were falling into place – serendipity was at work.
My next project was to transform a silver candelabra I had by painting it white and attaching three cut glass punch cups…one of our fellow bloggers inspired this project with her painted brass candelabra and teacups – do you know who?
I had this terra cotta wine container sitting on our side porch for quite a while – I haven’t really used it in decorating and thought it would be a fantastic candidate for Gesso and a French label graphic – I love the details to this graphic – I shared with my daughter that anything written in French looks good. – Can you guess who inspired this transformation?
We’ve had this desk for quite some time – it is a fantastic old desk with interesting features – it needed a facelift. So, last week I was strolling through Facebook and someone shared a picture from one of our favorite furniture painters/bloggers – I knew this was the look I was hoping for. I had already applied Robins Egg Blue to the Peninsula in the middle of the kitchen and wanted to paint the desk a yellow, red or blue to go with the Provencal/French influence in the room. The inspiration was a green/blue dresser showing distressed areas revealing an undercoating of red! Brilliant! I gave this a try and used the vaseline method – LOVE it!
To finish the look, the chair needed a slip cover. I had found a bedskirt at Goodwill quite a while back. I love anything with roses in the pattern and the colors to this fabric was perfect. Cutting portions of the already ruffled and stitched edges made making this slip cover a breeze.
A new chalk board, a transformed desk topped by two fun creations and finished off by a slip-covered chair – this corner of the room feels much more finished – more coordinated combined with the hutch and the shelf on the opposite corner.
