Less
is
This past weekend we picked up our tree. This is the
second year we have purchased a real tree. Traditionally,
the children decorate the main tree with Dearest. I typically
decorate trees for the dining room, green room, Master
Bedroom, and Kitchen.
This year we’re sticking to one tree. This tree is nearly
ten feet tall. It absorbed a great deal of our ornaments.
At first we couldn’t find the ribbon we usually used,
so my youngest daughter and I dug through our
craft supplies and found silver and lavender ribbon.
This began the color scheme for our tree. The
lavender ribbon is so very light you can barely tell it’s color.
My children at first did not want a monochromatic
tree – they wanted some red for a punch of color.
We just didn’t have enough to cover the tree. So, I took
some of my white, silk Magnolia flowers and placed
them here and there on the tree. Now, we’re loving the
monochromatic look.
I used some of the clippings from the tree and some
Magnolia leaves on the mantel…a theme had begun.
White Magnolias began to be the focus in our
family room.
Now, each of the built-in bookcases are complete.
Tabletops are decorated.
Our Christmas party tabletop received some
clippings and angels.
A few more tweaking here and there and
the Christmas decorating was complete.
I have only added a few things in the kitchen – so far.
This year for us, less is definitely more.
I will be sharing this post with these Delightsome
blog parties:
I wish you a most Delightsome day.
