A Refreshing Break
While Blogger was down, I kept myself very, very busy!
Our little town is having a home tour tomorrow
and my neighbor’s house is on the tour –
so, I spent the day cleaning the garden between us.
This was another one of those
very hot days! I believe we may have rain tomorrow –
I hope it doesn’t dampen the visitor’s experience.
The home tour is sponsored by Georgia Trust –
Some of the houses featured are being sold through the
Trust and some are historic sites cared for by the local
Historic Society. The Georgia Trust serves to
preserve endangered historic buildings in Georgia.
After several hours working in the garden I wanted something
refreshing. I had just purchased some lavender and lemons,
so I made
Lavender Lemonade.
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup fresh dried lavender blooms
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, strained
Ice cubes
Lavender sprigs for garnish
- Combine sugar with 2 1/2 cups water in a medium pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Add the lavender blooms to the sugar water, cover, and remove from heat. Let stand at least 20 minutes (and up to several hours).
- Strain mixture and discard lavender. Pour infusion into a glass pitcher. Add lemon juice and another 2 1/2 cups water. Stir well and watch lemonade change color.
- Pour into tall glasses half-filled with ice or refrigerate until ready to use.
I love the soft pink color of the lemonade.
I also made cucumber sandwiches –
There’s nothing more rewarding than to be able to sit back and to enjoy the fruits of your labor and to enjoy a quiet refreshing moment in your garden.
My friend loaned me this book, Come Spring by Tim LaHaye.
She said she was attracted to it by the name and
by the cover then found it to be a very good story – I’ll let you know!
I am sharing this post with

I hope you pay her a visit and all the other
