Refreshing the Decor in the Kitchen for Spring
I am sitting here at my kitchen desk, looking at the hutch asking myself, ‘do I change over the decor for Spring, or leave what I have’? I really do love the rustic combinations….but, it’s Spring! I love the changes outdoors, the vibrancy in the garden, the fresh, warm air and the trees filled with birds. Yes, I think I’ll change it over…Spring decor in the kitchen will reflect the joy of the world around me.
I love changing over the decor in the rooms of my home. This gives me a way to feature some of the things I love to collect…to make them the star of the room. In Spring, all things are bright, floral and new. So, for the spring decor I I am keeping it simple, bright and light. I am refreshing the decor in the kitchen for Spring.
The Hutch
This is the spot in the kitchen that I love to change over seasonally. I found this hutch at a farmer’s market. It was handmade by the vendor. I’ve painted it a few times; this last time I painted it white and added bead board wallpaper to give it a more country feel. I’m keeping the decor light here as well with some of the items I like – from other seasons – and some new fresh color.
I find most of my collectibles at Estate sales, thrift stores and some of the discount stores.
I’ve collected a few sweet French items from Sunday Brocantes. She opens her shop the first couple of days of each month.
Sweet roosters and cows add to the French country feel in the decor of my kitchen. I love French Country decor! This is a very old bunch of dried Lavender. I mean – old! To me, it still looks good!
On the Peninsula
We have little counter space in our kitchen. Actually, this kitchen used to be two rooms. One side was a butler’s pantry, the other side was the kitchen and off that was a breakfast room (now laundry room). I’ve thought about renovating the whole room…perhaps some day!
Fresh flowers always make a room more beautiful.
This girl’s always got to have her coffee in the morning and on the occasion tea in the afternoon. I’ve set this up on my countertop – ready for whenever I am in the mood.
I have a fondness for this dried flower arrangement. A year and a half ago, my daughters and I were shopping for floral ideas for my youngest’s wedding last June. These flowers were bought to make ‘mock’ arrangements. They’ve retained their beauty all this time – and bring back precious memories.
As I go through my collection of teacups – I will add more…I just love displaying my collections – seasonally – on this French wine bottle rack.
Do you love your home? I do…I see many, many beautiful homes shared on websites…I am amazed and joyful that we have ours. It’s old, it has character and it’s home. I’m so thankful! And I’m glad I’ve spruced up the kitchen for Spring! It’s one of my favorite seasons after all!
