I’ve been putting off this decor task.
I really do love the look to the winter mantel. I made this Monogram wreath and placed these items to compliment it’s coloring.
I really didn’t want to change it just yet…
My solution is to add just a few things here from the winter mantel- change a few things there to keep the over-all look but to give it the fresh appearance of spring.
Spring Fresh to me means green.
When I knew where I was going with my changes, it became easy.
I began by changing over the books on the right side
from black binding to green binding.
It was also natural to include a large volume on Irish history – both for my family’s heritage and for St. Patrick’s Day!
In the center I added a white urn.
The urn has a small floral pattern. Adding faux green vines carried through the green theme. To raise the urn’s height I turned over the cast iron planter that had been there before – filled with bleached pinecones.
The tall candlesticks remained.
I really do love these candlesticks and I already had greenery at their base.
My Sweet Lady Bust also remained.
I think she goes beautifully with any seasonal decor.
The wreath was given small change.
In the winter mantel, I had a red ribbon bow on the bottom right corner. I replaced this with a bird’s nest surrounded by white flowers and greenery.
A few more changes on the right side…
Included my little vase with the cherubs and greenery, a small white bird and vine entwined brass candleholders.
I still have the overall look of the winter mantel
Now, the spring mantel has a fresh, green inspired look! I do like the changes and think, when summer rolls around, I may do the very same thing -keep basic elements of design here and just tweak it with a summer inspired flair.
I will be participating along with several of our Blogging friends in the Swint into Spring Link Parties
– this will be fun!
