When I was younger, one of my favorite music artists was Anne Murray. One of her songs said, ‘we sure could use some good news today’. This seems to be much needed many, many years later. As I was listening to the morning news story after story was of bad news – children shooting a mother and killing her toddler while she was out walking, the economic news of deficits, furloughs and closings, sentencing of rapists and a school professor charged with child molestation, made me think of the decline in society. I had a discussion with my son today, he’s a police officer and he sees a lot of the evil people can do, what can be done to make a difference, what can be done to help young people change their direction in life.
As I sit here, I realized I have so much to be thankful for. I have a dedicated husband and father to our wonderful children. They’re all doing well and living for the LORD. Oftentimes, when they need advise or to discuss their day, they’ll call their Daddy. I just love that. Father’s are so very important in children’s lives – throughout their whole lives. While our children were growing up, I’d ‘promote’ my husband to them – I would encourage them to spend one-on-one quality time with them – to respect him and to trust his judgement. I feel now, it has given them confidence in themselves to have had such a wonderful relationship with their father.
