With biscuits and breakfast tea on the porch.
The air is brisk this morning. The song of the morning is filled with the sounds of the Mockingbird, my favorite, Bluejays-chasing one another, House Wrens fussing – maybe I’m near their nest, and Crows…an interesting sonet.
Beautiful little puffy clouds lazily skip across the sky – vibrant in their color as the rising sun’s rays cast light and shadow.
Sitting here, I’m enjoying the view and making lists. Are you a list maker? I have quite a few things I’d like to accomplish this week both in the house and in the garden.
I have one little Crabapple tree. It was full of tiny red Crabapples. I’d promised Dearest I would make jelly. Washing, cutting the apples, removing stem and flower end took quite a while. Boiling the apples to produce a pinkish juice filled the house with the fragrance of apples.
I followed this recipe ~ I loved this site ~ it gives a link to images detailing what sheeting looks like – which means you have jelly! I added a couple Cinnamon sticks to give it a little spice. Dearest loved it!
Will I make Crabapple Jelly again ~ considering the volume of work to make just a few small jars? Yes, I believe I will – it is a delightful treat and some things are just worth the effort.
