Living with Awe and Anticipation
I love new beginnings. The first pages and words in a book, the first notes in a song, the first flower of the season, the first light of day. I love new beginnings and the first day of the year, to me, is a grand opening to a wonderful adventure. Everything is new.
What will this day be like….
I am in a Maria Von Trapp/Julie Andrews frame of mind for the beginning of this new year. The first lines to the song, I Have Confidence play in my imagination. “What will this day be like? I wonder wonder. What will my future be? I wonder.”
The Adventure Lies Ahead…
It could be so exciting to be out in the world, to be free
My heart should be wildly rejoicing
Oh, what’s the matter with me?
Stepping out on new ventures can be a little daunting, but that’s part of the fun isn’t it? The excitement of starting something new.
Trying New Things
Maria was given the opportunity to completely change her life – to see new things and meet people. Through our lives every new venture is exciting, especially if it takes us out of our comfort zones. It’s so easy to walk the same familiar paths – but if we don’t try a new adventure every once in a while, we’ll never know whether we’re capable of accomplishing.
I’ve always longed for adventure
To do the things I’ve never dared
And here I’m facing adventure
Then why am I so scared
The Courage to Begin
Maria was seeking the courage to be able to meet the challenges set before her. In this seeking she not only realized that she could do this but also that she was worthy to do this task. So are we…
The courage to serve them with reliance
Face my mistakes without defiance
Show them I’m worthy
And while I show them
I’ll show me
Bring It
Whatever this new year has to offer, we can face each new day, new week, new month with confidence. Like Maria we can do better than our best – to test ourselves – to try new things. After all, we tried blogging and found it an adventure worthy of trying. In blogging we also found new ways to express ourselves, to share and to encourage.
So, let them bring on all their problems
I’ll do better than my best
I have confidence they’ll put me to the test
But I’ll make them see I have confidence in me
Confidence in Each New Step
New beginnings begin with that first step. There can be a sense of trepidation, but that first step is necessary to take. Whatever your adventure – you can have the confidence to take that first step.
And mind me with each step I am more certain
Everything will turn out fine
I have confidence the world can all be mine
They’ll have to agree I have confidence in me
Confidence in the Unchangeable
Isn’t it marvelous that even through the times of trying out new things – we can be confident in the unchangeable – the sun will rise again each morning – night will follow day – the seasons will come and they will go – there are some unchangeables that we can rely upon.

I have confidence in rain
I have confidence that spring will come again

Walk Your Own Path
So whatever lies ahead in the days and weeks to come – have confidence in yourself, try new things and walk your own path. We can admire and be inspired by one another – but there is only one you. You live your experiences, in your own home and with those you know. Bring your best self to your own everyday life. Trust where your heart leads you.
