Visiting a Lavender Farm and Festival in Central Georgia –
For the LOVE of Lavender
It was happenstance. I was finishing off a day at work; I made a phone call to a wholesale florist I knew seeking lavender. My friend overheard me and said there was a Lavender farm nearby and not only that but there would be a Lavender Festival there in a couple weeks. A Lavender farm near me? How wonderful. I have always had a love of Lavender, now I had a marvelous resource and event to attend.
Ooh La La Lavender Festival.
The farm’s name is Ooh La La Lavender Farm. What a gloriously beautiful name! Located in Eatonton, Georgia this farm also is a site for events such as weddings. The barn is fantastic. Situated neath a pecan orchard the grounds are serene with a pond behind the beautiful home. Past the pond on a hill grows the Lavender – a beautiful landscape.
Freshly Picked Lavender
As we entered the barn filled with vendors we were met with the wonderful fragrance of Lavender. A wide assortment of Lavender products were offered by the owner as well as freshly picked Lavender bundles. My daughter and I strolled through, deciding to wait to purchase our bundles.
Out at the Field
We took a ride on the hay wagon to the field where there was a pavillion. This would make a beautiful site for a wedding ceremony. We leisurely strolled through the Lavender watching the bees and butterflies work among the blossoms. They also had white Lavender – I had never seen white Lavender….I must find some for my garden!
For the Love of Lavender
The owner began her garden for the love of Lavender. She envisioned an event to bring together people who have a similar passion. This is a beautiful place, a beautiful event. This was only their second year! I know I will visit again and thoroughly enjoy all the lovely scenery, the vendors, the Lavender Lemonade and of course, the Lavender.
