White Washed
And
Scripted
I have loved the inspiration I have found in blogland.
One of the greatest things I think we can do is to
Take what we have and to make it better.
One such inspiration came from
Laurie
At
Heaven’s Walk.
She transformed clay pots
by whitewashing them and applying
graphics from
I as well as so many of you loved it!
I have been transforming my garden
Statuary by painting them white –
I continue to be thrilled by the result.

There are a few more ideas I have for
the remaining concrete objects I have in my garden.
To take what I have
and make them better.
I’ve had these two pots for a very long time.
Their coloring was O.K., but not great.
I thought they’d be perfect for this treatment.
I took the same paint I’d used to paint
my statuary-
Kilz Masonry Waterproof Paint.
I did a dry-brush method covering the pot
until I was satisfied with the result.
I added some grey here and there for shading.
Then I visited
I found this decorative scroll-work
and added the words
Le Jardin
I followed Laurie’s instructions to
darken the graphic before printing.
I trimmed the graphic as close as I could
and then applied Mod Podge generously
over the graphic and over the words.
I set them on my side porch and allowed
them to dry overnight.
I then wet a sponge until it was drippy
and began to soften the paper.
The graphic immediately darkens and the wet
paper began to roll away. I removed all
of the paper I could taking great care
around the graphic and around the words.
I then allowed that to dry again then
applied spray waterproof poly urethane.
I like them set behind my newly painted
water fountain and have yet to decide what
to put inside them. I am leaning towards
mums as the Fall season is quickly approaching.
I plan to try this method again – I am so very
satisfied with the end results!
I appreciate your visit!
