Garage Sale Find
I found this sweet little bench many years back at a garage sale. It has had two lives before this transformation to a little blue bench.
Going Gray
I’m going gray in our living room – wall and ceiling colors. I’ve concluded that I love the calming affect of the color gray in decorating.
Complimentary Colors
I chose a number of fabrics to go along with the gray walls. As I considered these changes, I realized some of the pieces of furniture needed a transformation too. This bench was perfect in the color red for the previous color scheme – now, I needed a serene shade to go along with the calming grays.
Created a Blue
I wanted a soft blue-gray shade for this bench. So, I combined two colors to make this light blue shade – I used the sample of Montpelier Ashlar Gray – half full and added the same amount of peaceful slumber – the blue used in the dining room. This is the resulting color.
Adding a little patina
I used Anne Howard’s light antiquing wax with her Dust of Ages to add a little patina to the decorative parts of the bench.
Pillows
When I bought the fabric for the living room transformation, I found this lovely pillow – it has just the right softness in color to compliment the new look to the living room.
A Softer Look…A New Decor Style
The previous look was decidedly English Cottage…now I’m leaning toward the serene colros of grays and blues throughout my home – with a touch of French Cottage flair.
