Color Trends
Color Trends...They’re out! And…well, many of them are dark and bold. Hmmm. I’ve heard that white interiors is out. But, when I look around Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and blogs…white remains and I believe, is a classic that will never go out of favor.
I love how the gray enhances the colors in this painting
Now I do so love color! When we moved to our home it was like I took a box of crayons, not literally, and decided on a color for each room. We had a red dining room. I think everyone should go red at least once. Our living room was gold – now it’s a greige. My son’s room was a lovely dark blue and the girl’s room was lavender and creamy yellow. We actually called the rooms by their color…the blue room, the green room etc…
Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year is Caliente (actually pretty gorgeous)
Benjamin Moore’s Color Palette:
Pantone’s Color of the Year is ‘Ultra Violet’
Sherwin William’s Color of the Year is ‘Oceanside’
I am loving Sherwin Williams’ Serenity Palette – there are some wonderful options here!
Glidden’s Color of the Year is ‘Deep Onyx’
Valspar’s Color of the Year is ‘Deep Green’
But now…I am leaning toward a more serene palette. I want a calm, cozy atmosphere around me. So, it will be no surprise that out of all of the colors that are ‘trending’ I love the ones that are softer and calming.
Behr’s ‘In the Moment’
This beautiful color even looks stunning as an exterior color.
Behr’s 20 Color Palette for 2018
There are some lovely options here…if you’re looking to add more color or an accent color to your home’s decor.
We’re still crushing on Blush.
As I’m out shopping I still see blush everywhere…in fact, I purchased a couple pillows and pillow covers in blush at IKEA. I had such an awesome time at IKEA this week, I found an amazing deal I just can’t wait to share!
I saw this marvelous shade of blush in dishes, in linens, in lampshades…everywhere…I think I’ll crush on blush for a very long, long time!
How Can You Incorporate Your Favorite Color Trend?
If you like one of the bold colors but you don’t want to go all out and paint a room that color, you can:
- paint a piece of furniture
- add accent pillows
- paint books
- paint a lampshade
- find pottery in that shade – or paint it!
- find accessories in that color
- paint an accent wall
- find linens in that color
There are many ways you can become trendy without overwhelming yourself.
I may find a few things to accent my home here and there…some of these colors are very beautiful and would look lovey as seasonal decor.
But, overall, I’m stepping further and further toward neutral colors…more soft blues and grays in my future. How about YOU?
