The Romance of Red
I visited my dear friend Maria at her store Rooms U Love.
She had just changed over to her fall displays – I had my eye
on this tureen that she filled with lovely red flowers – I am
always drawn to red it seems – it is such a romantic color.
As I strolled through I saw a few Johnson Brother’s red
dishes – two Devonsire plates with three teacups, one rose
chintz teacup and two Windsor Ware Rose plates. They had
the same swirl to the edge of the plates – making them
compliment each other so well.
I knew when I arrived home the tablescape I envisioned required
a bare table. The star of the show had to be the dishes – I love
the darker wood color I put on the top of the table when I
refinished it and most of the chairs.
I also had this delicate, green table runner that Maria had
given me – a perfect pairing for these lovely dishes.
The plate stand was a recent find from Goodwill – I love the
wrought iron color that will go well with the French Bottle
Rack and Pot tower in my kitchen. It is also perfect for
serving buffet style.

Red is such a romantic color – especially when it is on dishes and as a rose.
