God’s Word

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130

There are a few things that I’m convinced of. God is real and Jesus is His son who came to take the punishment of our sins so that we can have a relationship with God. He loved us that much. And I believe in the importance of The Holy Bible, God’s word.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

We have been given a great many gifts. The love of God the Father and of Jesus His Son, the presence of the Holy Spirit…unimaginable how wonderful that is. Then he gave to us His word to live by; to understand what’s truly important…to be so much more for Him and for others.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:16-17.

The word of God is sure and it is powerful – giving us the ability to understand how we now should live and we can rely upon the word for every thing.

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock… Matthew 7:24

The word of God is rich…there is so much depth to His word.

In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? Psalm 56:4

The Word of God is so very important to us – so very important to our daily living.

So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3

Jesus Himself is called ‘The Word’.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himselfa] purged ourb] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Hebrews 1:3

So then, how shall we live in these upcoming days – the new year before us? If we are wise, we will live each day spending time in God’s word, talking to Him and putting His Word in our hearts.

Reading the Bible through in 2017

The children of our church enthusiastically challenged the adults to join them in reading the Bible through in 2017. Yes, that’s right, the children. Last year, they challenged their parents and reported a joyful year learning from God’s word. I’ve found several printable plans for reading through to include: 71 Days in Isaiah, Book Order, Chronological, Classic, Daily Gospel and more – Here. Whatever you chose, make spending time with God in His word your most important thing to do today. I know, it will make a great change in your life.
