The Joy Filled Life – Part IV
The Presence of Jesus Christ – Is Enough
I the previous posts, I shared to have a joy-filled life we first:
- There’s joy in Trials
- There’s joy in Giving
- There’s joy in being in harmony with believers
Now, the underlying factor to it all – there’s joy knowing the presence of Jesus Christ in our lives.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”. 4:13
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” 4:19
These verses don’t necessarily mean that we will have a trouble-free life and all our wishes will be met. Remember, Paul was admonishing the members of the church at Philippi to love one another; to be in harmony; to meet the needs of others…
What I believe he was saying was Jesus was enough – He is sufficient.
Knowing that once saved we can never lose our relationship with the LORD
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” John 10:28
Jesus is Sufficient for Every Area of Our Lives
Sometimes we think we need something and it turns out we don’t really need anything. We just want something.
But for every need we really have – hope, peace, comfort, love, strength, wisdom….that is the treasure we can get in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
A relationship with Jesus gives us contentment.
The only thing I need I already have
The fullness of Your mercy in my hand
The only one who loves me as I am
The only thing I need I already have
(The Only Thing I Need)
Having a relationship with Jesus here on earth gives us the ability to meet the needs of others; it gives us the ability to see what we really need for ourselves and to be content. Knowing that we are so very loved – that Jesus would take our place for the payment of our sins – and give of Himself…Not only that – but give us the presence of the Holy Spirit to aid us in understanding, growing and supply that comfort…what else do we really need.
Life will be full of tests and trials. We all will go through something. In fact, I try to remember and realize when dealing with people, who may be harsh toward me, is that I don’t know all that is going on in their life. Every body has something they’re going through. So, I govern myself to be kind always, patient always and to have wisdom to see and to do what is needed.
All I need – I already have – in Jesus Christ for this life. Jesus is sufficient for me. And that, that knowledge brings incredible joy – it brings a song to the heart and a thankfulness to each day. What will this day be like – how much can I do – what blessings – miracles will happen? How can I be a blessing to someone else. Having Jesus in our lives gives us the most important purpose – to live for Him and to live for others – THAT’s living a joy filled life.
