It was not on my ‘Six Most Important Things To Do List”
As I was cleaning this morning before beginning my next project, this little chest began to squeak. It became the squeaking wheel demanding attention. This little ugly duckling is functional and has potential to be beautiful- to become a lovely silver painted chest.
Music Chest
She serves as the music chest, housing the piano music books. For years while each of the children were taking piano, we needed some place to keep all of those music books in order. Now my daughter has a collection of sheet music that we need to house.
Perfect for this corner
She would sit quietly – not attracting attention in this corner. You could easily look over her if the swinging kitchen door was open – she didn’t cry out for attention.
From Drab to Elegant
Not so now! She wants attention – she’s all blinged out and in a new dress – she wants to be noticed to be seen.
An Easy 10 minute transformation
I cleared out her drawers, washed her down and took her outside – thankfully remembered to take a ‘before’ picture! I then used Krylon’s Silver Foil Metallic – I found at Hobby Lobby. I applied three coats to ensure a beautiful, shiny coverage. I was thrilled at how quickly she dried!
Now She’s Going To Get Attention…
I can just imagine, the shy wallflower now being the Belle of the ‘dining room’ ball!
IMPORTANT NOTE: we noticed that when something was placed on the chest the silver would rub off – so I’ve sprayed a couple coatings of Poly on – allow to dry – cure time can be up to one week
