Dearest and I had the opportunity to take a couple relaxing days to vacation in Savannah. There’s so much to see in this charmingly beautiful place. We spent the first day walking casually along the riverfront seeing the shops, riding the trolly, cruising across the river in the river taxi, and ate at Vic’s on The River for dinner. On the next day we drove through neighborhoods where I was completely enchanted to see all of the hauntingly beautiful Live Oaks draped beautifully with the Spanish Moss. Downtown Savannah is such a beautifully arranged place with parks surrounded by the old historic buildings and homes. We then drove to Tybee Island – the two days were stormy and we were blessed in that the heaviest rain occurred when we were indoors! The beach was more populated with birds than with people! I enjoyed seeing the lighthouse and then touring Fort Pulaski on the way out. Such beauty, such history all so very charming.
The Waving Girl Statue on the Riverfront
The St. John the Baptist Cathedral
Intricate Wrought Iron
One of many ways to tour Savannah
Local spots – Leopold’s Ice Cream
The storm that had just passed over
A cannon on Fort Pulaski showing damage from the battle
A serene scene from a serene vacation
I hope you have opportunity to see all the beauty of Savannah and Tybee Island. It is a wonderful place to get away and relax.
