Bringing in The Warm and Cozy
acorns, apples, apple cider, bonfires, boots, corn, crisp air, crows, harvest moon, hot cocoa, frost, rain, fog, leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows, sweaters, and color…sentiments for my fall home tourThere are so many reasons we can list that we love fall.
I love the brilliant color of the sky, the contrast of the fiery leaves and the crisp, cool air. Spring and fall are my favorte times of the year.
Decorating for the season
traditionally includes bringing in leaves, pumpkins, pinecones, acorns and such…a vibrant mixture of color and textures. This year a lot of my autumn decor is traditional and some is neutral and some with a twist…I love the variety and creativity of the season.
Subtle Colors
since I painted the kitchen and cabinets last year, I have been leaning toward keeping the seasonal decor neutral – I love the soft texture of the book page leaves in this corner of the dining room.
a little turquoise and red is added for interest…love a bowl full of apples!
In the Dining Room
I have been looking forward to adding orange to my newly painted dining room – I knew the contrast in the colors would be fantastic.
I added just a few touches above and below the painted china cabinet – more vibrant orange and blue with some white…
In The Living Room
I’ve kept three basic items on my mantel and based my seasonal decorating around them – the wreath, the candlesticks and the lady bust.
I wrapped these books with bits of coffee sack burlap – I love the added texture and neutral color.
On the ottoman I filled the Bombay tray with a wonderful basket filled with faux pumpkins and wooden acorns – old glass grapes from my parents fill a rosewood leaf tray; more neutral colors.
Warm and cozy – that’s what fall means to me – bringing that sentiment into my home’s decor is so much fun – and quite rewarding.
