It is so much fun to find things that you know will add charm to a room in your home.
My daughter and I were visiting garage sales last weekend and at the first stop I found some very beautiful bed coverlets. They were from what appeared to be decades of collecting. Just my kind of find! This bedspread was one of them and I knew that it would be perfect to create a winter white guest bedroom.
Soft Shades of White
I love the combination of soft shades of white in this room and the combination of crocheted patterns in the pillow and now in the bed’s coverlet.
The Blue Room
I love the combination of the colors of blue and white. I cannot decide whether to change or refresh the color of this room. In the meantime, the few changes I’ve made to this guest bedroom, to me, continue to add to it’s charm. We found this gorgeous vintage cast iron bed at an Estate sale.
Wicker Furniture
This beautiful wicker screen, basket/planter and off to the side storage box add charm to the guest bedroom.
Great-Grandpa’s Chair
In this corner of the bedroom I’ve placed one of my Great-Grandfather’s chairs. I painted it last year and remade the cushions with the French Grainsack fabric. I love this sweet little corner next to the built-in bookcases.
The Perfect Step Stools
This bed’s mattress is quite high requiring step stools. I found these and love their patina and the graphic on the top.
Dress Form and Romantic Painting
I found this dress form at The Country Living Fair in 2013 and this beautiful, romantic picture of a young lady at an Estate sale. The Estate sale was from the home of an elderly lady who’d just passed away at the age of 100. She had not lived in her home for 12 years so most of her treasured possessions were left on their own. I wonder at this sweet young lady – who she was, perhaps the elderly lady herself.
I plan to leave the picture’s frame as it is…
Cedar Closet
The cedar closet stands next to the doorway to the bedroom. This cedar closet is very old and actually I use it for my clothes as we have precious little closet space in this house.
Bed Tray with Tea Set
I have kept this tray on the bed for quite some time now. I like the notion of a guest relaxing in this room enjoy a lovely cup of tea.
Coverlet adds nicely to the serene, romantic decor to this room – I understand that the Double Wedding Ring pattern can be dated back to the 1920’s. Wouldn’t it be marvelous if this was the actual bedding given to the lady on her wedding day…I do love to imagine romantic notions to the treasures I find at Estate sales.
The Blue Guest Bedroom
Decorated with Estate sale and garage sale finds combine these collected treasures to add sweetness and romance to this guest bedroom.
